Project:- Epoxy Coating and Flexible Lining of Two Cold Water Tanks
Environmental Fabrications were tasked with sealing and internally coating two undergroung concrete cold water storage tanks. The building was a new construction and the cold water tanks were located beneath the buildings sub basement car park. As the water tanks were below the water table, the joints in the concrete needed to be sealed to avoid ground water from entering the tanks. The concete surfaces were screeded and a special sealing compound was applied to all the joints in the concrete. This was backed up by an epoxy coating to all the tank surfaces.
On completion of the water tank epoxy coating, the Flexible Polypropylene Lining System as installed to further ensure the sealing of the cold water storage tanks..
Project:- Replacement of Cold Water Storage Tanks ( Residential Block )
Environmental Fabrications have just completed the replacement of two cold water tanks at a residential complex in Finchley, London. The existing complex was split into two blocks, each block having two badly corroded water tanks. We were asked if it would be possible to remove one of the water tanks in each block and build a new sectional tank in their position.
After the initial survey, it was apparent that this was achievable but access would prove to be a problem and the cold water storage tanks were in an area with flamable materials present. As removal of cold water tanks normally creates a certain amount of sparks, we were tasked with finding an alternative method. A circular saw was sourced which collected the metal shards and this proved to be an ideal solution. The cold water tanks were removed safely and two 4000ltr storage tanks were built and connected to the existing water services.
Project:- Refurbishment of Six Cold Water Storage Tanks on the Isle of Wight
Environmental Fabrications were awarded the contract to refurbish six cold water storage tanks at the Newport council offices on the Isle of Wight. As with most of our work time is important, as the buildings are usualy occupied and disruptions to water services are inconvenient. Fortunately these offices had water tanks spread around the building so water was only off to certain parts of the building at any one time. As the water tanks were being lined with our polypropylene lining system, disruption to water services was kept to a minimum.
As the water tank linings are pre-manufactured, this speeds up the installation progress, meaning that the cold water storage tanks were all completed within an 8 hour period. This is an excellant example of one of the advantages of the lining system. Environmental Fabrications have refurbished hundreds of storage tanks throughout the UK using the FP System.
